Peigí Morton - Peggy Morton

Morton Family Crest

In August 1813, William Hampton began to survey Cappagh, the property of Mrs. Morton, the barony of Ballintobber and county of Roscommon; and began to survey Ballinwully, in the parish of Kilgefin, barony of Ballintobber , the estate of Mrs. Morton. It seems probable that Peggy Morton belonged to this family. Cappagh and Ballinwully are both in the parish of Kilgefin on the Roscommon side of the Shannon. ...Dónal O'Sullivan 2024 1 vol. edition p. 261.

1. Raighe mé dhon réim-se
Go Caoil óg a' Chréaithir
Mar' bhfuil sgéimh na h-uaisle;
Plannda an tséimh í,
Lámh a' réitigh,
An mhaighdean bhéasach mhúintigh.

2. 'Si is glaise súl
Ná bláth na n-ubhall,
Násgáile an driúcht faoi shléibhte,
An eala bhreágh mhúinte
Thug a sway ó gach cúigeadh,
'Si Peigi Morton a' péarla.
