Seán Mac Diarmada Rua - John MacDermott Roe

The subject may be taken to be Counsellor John MacDemott, the second son of Mary and Henry MacDermott Roe. He would not have been known as MacDermott Roe until he became the head of the family on the death without male issue of his elder brother Henry in 1752. The counselor lived at Annagh on the banks of the Lough Meelagh, close to Ballyfarnon. He married Julia French of Curgurry and died in April, 1777. He was the father of Charlie MacDermott Roe (died 1776) and probably also of Robert MacDermott Roe.
