Seán Nuinseann - John Nugent

The lyrics printed below, though only a fragment, are undoubtedly the appropriate ones for the tune. They are a jig to welcome to Ireland and to Castle Nugent, a lady who has come over from France and is the bride to be of John Nugent. The lady welcomed would be Lady Margaret Plunkett. She was brought up on the continent, for in 1695, her mother, the Countess of Fingall was living with her children in Brussels. The air was composed by Carolann in 1720 on the occasion of the marriage. ...Dónal O'Sullivan 2024 1 vol edition p. 262.
