Richard Gethin, Esq., of Moyallow (Mallow), Co. Cork, whose parentage is unknown, was born probably around 1615. He represented Clonmel in the Irish Parliament from 1639 to 1649, and Newtown Limavaddy from 1661 to 1666. Having obtained a considerable grant of lands called Gethen's Grot, he was created a baronet by patent dated the 1st August, 1665. Thje subject is probably the wife of of Sir Richard Gethen, 3rd Baronet.
