The Miss Edwaards who had a connection with the counties frequented by Carolan was Margaret, daughter of Bryan Gunning of Castle Coote, Co. Roscommon. She married John Edwards , of Dublin, Esq., Attorney-=at-law, 'who was killed by endeavouring to get out of the Four Courts, 16 June, 1721, upon a false report of there being a fire.' She did not long remain a widow, and she had in fact three other husbands: Willian Lyster of Athleague, Co. Roscommon, Francis Houston of Ashgrove, in the same county, whom she married in 1731 and lastly
'Theobald, 6th Viscount Mayo. This in the Lord Mayo who was a friend of Carolan, and she was his second wife. ... O'Sullivan.
