The Drurys were an influential family at the time, tracing their descent back to the Drurys of Suffolk, including Sir William Drury, Lord Deputy of Ireland in Queen Elizabeth's reign. Young John, the subject of this tune, was born in 1705 and died in May, 1725 , about a year after his marriage, leaving one daughter Margaret.
