This air is certainly not by Carolan , at any rate in its original form, although he may have played it and slightly altered it. It is a well known folk tune, somewhat altered, entitled 'Ar bhruach na carraige báine' ('On the brink of the white rocks'). In the book, The Spirit of the Nation, it is set to Thomas Davis's poem 'O proud were the chieftains of green Innisfail.
