Bean Costello - Mrs. Costello
The subject of this tune was likely the wife of Charles Costello, Esq. who was a neighbour of the MacDermott Roe family. According to the Kilronan Rent Roll, he was the lesee of Gorteen, 227 acres, about nine miles west of Boyle, at an annual rent of 70 pounds. The great road from Boyle to Foxford runs through this farm. There is a tolerable good farm house on these grounds and an indifferent mill.
