Bean na tabhairne - Carolan's Quarrel with the Landlady

The circumstances of Carolan's quarrel with the landlady have not been recorded, nor are his words for the tune extant. It is possible that the landlady was Bridget Waldron, upon whom he composed the pungent eipigram after her death given in vol 1 pg 94: I prithee, tombstone, let not Bridget come back whence she came, For she would turn your liquor sour and put your house to shame. His fondness for drink is well known, as is also his tendency to irascibility when kept in short supply.
