Bean Ó Fallamháin - Mrs. Fallon

Fallon Family Crest
Fallon Family Crest

The Fallons are a Roscommon family. John Fallon of Runnimead, in that county, was a Captain in the Army of King James II. There isa poem of four quatrains entitled 'Sláinte Uí Fhalloin'[Fallon's Health] beginning:
Chearbhúlán mé tháinic
Chun na h-áite seo a'déanamh spóirt

It seems likely that this song was made for the husband of the Mrs. Fallon who gave her name to the present air. Carolan calls for a drink: Go n-ólfam sláinte UíFhalloin suairc.
