Dónal Ciallaigh - Daniel Kelly
Kelly Family Crest
The name Kelly is, with the exception of Murphy, the most common surname in Ireland; and, as there were many families of that name in Roscommon (their principal habitat) in Carolan's time it is not surprising that we have seven airs for person's named Kelly. The subject of the present tune is probably Daniel Kelly of Turrock.
Turrock is in the parish of Taghboy and barony of Athlone, about four miles north-west of Ballyforan.
