Comhairleoir Duilleain - Counselor Dillon
Dillon Family Crest
The subject of this piece is a lawyer but without his Christian name, it is not possible to determine exactly who he is. There are two barristers named Dillon, wither of whichis likely to be the subject of Carolan's tune. There was a Robert Dillon, Esq., a Popish lawyer, who left 500 pounds to the Charitble Infirmary at Dublin. Then there was a Theobald Dillon, eldest son of Peter Dillon, of Clooncraff, Co. Roscommon who cas called to the Irish Bar in 1732.
