le Seán Ó hAonasa|
Ar an deireadh Bealtaine binn le chéile do chruinnigh
Is le cion coirdial le chéile sinn do bheannaigh
Suíomar le chéile le croíthe gan ghliceas.
Sásta gach chroí, ar gach aghaidh do bhí aoibhneas.
Céad míle fáilte romhat, aon buideal eile,
by Humphrey Thompson 31 May 1772|
On the last of sweet May we together did meet
And with cordial affection each other did greet.
We sat down together with hearts free from guile,
Contented each heart, on each face sat a smile.
Céad míle fáilte romhat, one bottle more,
This more modern drinking song is a spinoff of the above. It was published with the same tune in Crosby's Irish Musical Repertory 1808 pg 99. The first verse is to the right below as follows:
Assist me, ye lads who have hearts void of guile,|
To sing in the praises of old Ireland's Isle,
`Where true hospitality opens the door,
And friendship detains us for one bottle more.|
One bottle more, harrah, one bottle more,
And friendship detains us for one bottle more!
